Ultimate Oil Based Hazer

We've reduced the price of our Vicount Hazer - the ultimate output oil based hazer.

Different to the popular DF-50, as it actually heats the oil so that any bacteria that may be present are killed, giving a sterilised haze.

The particle size of the haze particles are 0.2 micron - which is the smallest in the industry. It also means that it leaves no residue, because the particles are so small and light, they only settle 8mm per hour due to gravity.

It can also produce large amounts of very persistent smoke, so it's really 2 functions for the price of 1, and can easily fill huge volumes.

The haze hang time is over 3 hours - not something any water based hazer can claim.

The unit was £1,500.00 and is now £1,395.00 with the DMX version down from £1,960.00 to £1,670.00.

The price of the smoke oil consumable is also reduced from £50 per 5 litres to £30 per 5 litres.

Darfur refugee camp exhibit in Trafalgar Square

Evening Standard
06.06.08

Trafalgar Square is to be transformed into a refugee camp to highlight the plight of millions of people displaced from war-torn Darfur.

The United Nations refugee agency is setting up the camp beneath Nelson's Column so Londoners can experience the daily conditions suffered by refugees because of the five-year conflict.

The installation will feature four five-metre by three-metre canvas dome tents used by the UN, which can sleep more than a dozen people. Smoke and the sounds of gunshots aim to make the Experience Darfur exhibition more lifelike. Cooking equipment, blankets, soap and buckets used in the camps will also be displayed.

The exhibition will be opened by UN High Commissioner for Refugees, António Guterres, to coincide with World Refugee Week. About 300,000 people have died and two million made homeless during the civil war in Darfur between rebels and militias backed by Sudan's government.

Pea Soup have supplied the smoke machine for this exhibition.

Rosco Fog Machines and Fog Fluid

We're having a super year so far. To say thanks, we've reduced our prices for the Rosco range of fog machines and fog fluid. The 'Rosco' name is synonymous with quality fog machines for both the stage, television, films and fire training applications and we're pleased to be able to offer the full range of Rosco machines and fluids at unbeatable prices.

The Rosco Alpha 900 is a superb little machine, with a huge long remote cable (9 metres) and remarkable output for such a small unit. Because we love it so much, we've knocked £36 off the price and are now stocking 110v versions as well as 230v versions. The Rosco Alpha 900 was £235, and is now just £199.

Its big brother, the Rosco 1700 is the replacement for the Rosco 1600 (which in turn was a replacement for the legendary Rosco 1500). It is a very rugged machine with a timer remote which can be mounted on the back of the unit, making the system 'self-contained'. The Rosco 1700 was £389, and is now just £365.

Bigger again, the Rosco 1900 was £559, is now £510.

For low lying heavy fog effects, the fog output of any Rosco machine can be passed through the ColdFlow which uses liquid CO2 to chill the fog to sub-zero temperatures making it lie low. This machine has been £1,249 and is now £1,080. If you would like to order one, please let us know as soon as possible as they can be several weeks in production in the USA.

Rosco fog fluid offers a range of effects, from persistent fog to a stage fog effect which disappears after the initial blast.

3 x 1 litre fluid was £47, now £29
2 x 2.5 litres fluid was £53, now £39
2 x 4 litres fluid was £79, now £49
25 litres fluid was £169, now £135

We hope you'll consider Rosco Fog Machines when considering your purchase, and we think that our new prices they're hard to beat.

Heavy Fog at the touch of a button!

Announcing our newest product: The Self-Contained Heavy Fog System

The much sought-for low lying heavy fog effect using only fog fluid and power. No CO2, no dry ice, no dewar vessels - just thick blankets of heavy fog on demand.

And all for approx. 3 times less than the leading model on the market!

The complete system with high output fog machine, mains powered fog cooler and 20 litres of low fog fluid is just £1960 ex. VAT. Why spend 3x this when you can have 3 of these systems to give your location maximum fog coverage?

You can either use one of our suggested fog machines with the unit, or use one of your existing fog machines

Product price news

We are pleased to announce a new price structure for our pyrotechnic smoke pellets. We have also improved the product itself - it now generates twice as much smoke and can be held in your hand while you light it for ease of ignition, and for a short time whilst producing smoke.

Our ICE100 heavy fog machine is proving very popular with schools and drama societies. It's one of the cheapest ways of creating one of the more costly stage effects - heavy fog.

Refillable aerosols for our PS23 and PS25 hand portable smoke machines have been reduced by more than 66%. This makes the system even more affordable for international customers who are charged a 'hazardous' surcharge by freight companies due to the pre-pressurized aerosols being considered hazardous by them.

The G300 Mk3 is the latest smoke machine from Le Maitre is available direct from Pea Soup from 14th January 2008.

Whilst the new G300 does not have the hazer function of the existing G300, it is less than half the weight and creates the same continuous high volume of smoke with a considerably reduced price tag. This makes it the viable alternative to the existing G300 for those who would never use the hazer function but still need a very high output machine. It also makes a viable alternative to the Speedfogger.

Now it is possible to get many of the features of Le Maitre's top-of-the-range smoke machine for less than ever.

There is no such thing as 'generic smoke fluid'

When you buy a smoke machine, the instruction manual you receive with it will tell you that you must use fluid that has been made by the same manufacturer for that machine. Using other types of fluid will invalidate the warranty and could damage the machine. Other fluids may work in the machine, but by no means all. They may create a sub-standard smoke that is unpleasant to breathe and could damage your health. They could also damage your machine. If you do use another manufacturer's fluid in your machine and need to get it repaired under warranty, the first thing the service engineer will do is use a special indicator to see if you've used the correct fluid or not. You will either then be charged for the repair, or it will be sent back to you unrepaired. If you want to see your smoke machine last a long time, we recommend you use the manufacturer's fluid. It will be optimised for use in your machine.

The main reason smoke generator manufacturers state that the chemical used should be their own is that generators are designed around a specific mixture of chemicals, with specific boiling ranges. Using a smoke fluid that for example is based on propylene glycol /water, which has a relatively low boiling range, through a generator set for glycerine / water (with a much higher boiling range) potentially can crack the chemical, forming unpleasant and potentially toxic compounds (acroleins, aldehydes etc). Even changing the % of water in a mixture can have an effect.

A couple of years ago all the major manufacturers prepared a joint letter stressing the dangers, or more accurately potential dangers of mixing and matching smoke chemicals, stressing that so called generic smoke chemicals simply could not be relied upon to produce a consistent and safe smoke in every generator.

Smoke's no joke!

Invicta FM's breakfast presenter, Neil Francis, who takes great pleasure in winding up listeners with hoax calls, was on the receiving end of a prank last week when his studio filled with smoke.

Neil's co-host, Sam Hughes, secretly triggered a high powered smoke machine (which is used by specialist burglar alarm companies to make it impossible for theives to see what they are trying to steal) during their show - resulting in a worried Neil announcing on air: "There's a load of smoke in the studio so we are just going to play another record.". Almost immediately firemen in breathing apparatus burst through the door and tried to pull Neil out, but he wouldn't budge.

After the show, he said: "When I first saw the smoke I was convinced it was a fire. My first thought was to get Sam to safety. But once we were in the corridor I realised it didn't smell like a fire so I returned to the studio to carry on the programme."

On his return to the studio he found that he couldn't see anything for the smoke - and all of the equipment was non-operational due to control of the desk having been taken by his colleagues next door.

The confusion created by the prank wasn't limited to the studio. Because only three people were aware of the plan, the rest of the Invicta FM staff, along with workers from the neighbouring offices on the business park, evacuated the premises when smoke triggered the fire alarms. Even presenter Johnny Lewis, who was broadcasting his Invicta Supergold show from an adjoining studio, quit his desk and headed in search of a fire extinguisher.
