SMOKE MACHINE LOCATIONS
Friargate Wax Museum, York
A gem of a wax museum, sadly closed in 1996
(the building currently houses the Friargate Theatre).
A World War II scene utilised a Le
Maitre Power Mist Turbo located behind a piece of scenery, which
operated for a couple of seconds every few minutes (presumably so
as not to set the smoke alarms off - the machine had a extremely
high full output). There was also a smouldering cannon effect next
to the figure of Henry VIII which had a flashing light and sound
effects. I couldn't hear a smoke machine, and there was a continuous
'smouldering' with no sudden burst of smoke. A very classy and well
made prop! Another machine was in the attraction's 'Black Cave'
horror walk-through in the Dracula scene which was triggered by
infra red sensors in the abominable snowman scene around the corner
(so unless someone was directly behind you, the effect would never
be seen). More than likely to be another Power Mist Turbo.
