Smoke from theatrical / night club smoke systems cannot be relied upon for tests like this - the output simply evaporates - usually in around 15 minutes or less in warmer ambient temperatures, so you cannot be categorically assured that the ventilation system is actually extracting the smoke and the the smoke is not just evaporating of its own accord, which it would do even without ventilation!
