SMOKE MACHINE LOCATIONS
Spooky Spirits
At
its launch, Alton Towers' Haunted House had two Spirit
900s installed in the ride. The first uses a quick dispersing
fluid B and both the effect and machine are hard to see in the 'breathing
walls' section, around the first corner of the ride. The second
uses long lasting fluid A and is slowly distributed through the
wall of a stone medieval archway in 'the tunnel of doom' (the section
where the cars drive through the mouth of a giant skull into a revolving
tunnel). The projection of the smoke from this machine is diffused
by fallen masonry. On exiting the park, it is possible to see the
back of the large 'warehouse' building in which the ride is located,
and the 2 huge 205 litre drums of fluid outside which feed the machines.
The Spirit 900 smoke
generator is now available from Pea Soup Ltd. [more]

The Haunted House is now "DUEL - The Haunted House Strikes
Back" and is an interactive laser ride, with visitors shooting
the ghosts. A total of ten Le
Maitre Neutron XS hazers were used to create a constant, fine
mist for the ghostly atmosphere, allowing the lasers to be visible.
The ride has also previously used / are currently
using ViCount Compact
units.
