SMOKE MACHINE LOCATIONS
London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony
The ceremony depicted the industrial revolution
in Britain and utilised 9 Rocket
smoke machines (5 Rocket QD quick dispersing units in the beam
engines and the crucible and 4 x PS23R persistent units in the cranes),
along with a number of Spirit
900 units in the chimneys. Also, Mini
Rockets and Micro
Rockets were used in moving props and puppets.
Smoke effects in the ceremony watched by an
estimated 1 billion people included:
Smoking cottage chimney in rural pre-show
scene
Smoke emerging from beneath the tree atop the hill from where
the workers walk out
7 large chimneys
Large mechanical beam engines and cranes
Smoking funnels of Windrush ship
Children's storybook character puppets
River of molten iron to form a ring
Hazers around perimeter of performance area (believed to be Stadium
Hazers)
