There are two types of Colt manufactured for Pea Soup that produce different
types of smoke; the Colt 3 makes smoke that disperses quickly,
the Colt 4 makes long-lasting smoke.
Colts are also available in two versions. The
Basic version allows you to operate the unit off-mains power
- you can produce a considerable amount of
smoke
'off power' using the retained energy within the high mass
heat exchanger, allowing you to carry the generator around,
making
smoke
as required, without a trailing electrical lead. After being
on mains for around 15 minutes, the Colt will generate large
amounts of
smoke
for around 2 minutes whilst off power. The Remote version
Colt comes with a remote control (remote will not work off-power).
Connected to main power, all Colts can operate
continuously at full output.
In service with numerous fire authorities world-wide,
many NATO forces (including the USN for shipboard training),
as well as analytical laboratories, cleanroom specialists
and HVAC contractors, the Colt has a reputation for simplicity
of operation and reliability.
The use of pressurised smoke fluid canisters reduces the number of moving parts within the machine to just one, resulting in exceptional serviceability and reliability.
The Colt 4 units made for Pea Soup are ideal for when you require
extremely dense concentrations of smoke, or extremely large
volumes need to be filled with smoke. This is because smoke
produced by the Colt 4 is very persistent. The Colt
4 Turbo model generates almost twice the volume of
smoke as the standard Colt 4.
The new Colt 4 Twin Turbo is the newest variant, giving twice the output of that of a Colt 4 Turbo. It incorporates a larger, twin helix, precision machined heat exchanger block. This new heat exchanger technology results in twice the smoke output of the Colt 4 Turbo but still only uses 2 x 1100w heaters and is one of the most powerful

A steel ducting adaptor (shown left) attaches to the front of the machine
to secure the position of the ducting hose inlet allowing
smoke to be positioned precisely, in hard to reach places, a distance away from the machine itself
or inside containers, fume cupboards, spray booths, etc.
All our ducting hoses are internally lined to be
smooth, thereby reducing frictional losses and smoke
particle impaction.
When ducting smoke, you are restricting
the smoke particles movement in a limited space and so deposition in the hose over time
is inevitable with any machine. But by using a Pea Soup
smoke machine and this type of hose, deposition is minimised.
